Man Faces Civil Rights Charges After Alleged Attack on Asian Woman

A Woburn man was arrested Monday after reportedly attacking an Asian woman with a baseball bat.

A Woburn man was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon and violating a person's civil rights after allegedly attacking an Asian woman Monday. At 5:25 p.m., Michael Reuben Kischel, 29, of 27A Union St., was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction of property and a civil rights violation. According to police, Kischel allegedly threatened an Asian woman with a baseball bat, yelling ethnic slurs and swinging the bat at her as she tried to get away from him. Officer Arthur Tourkantonis, Jr. reported the incident began when an Asian woman approached Kischel’s barking dogs. Police said Kischel reportedly told the victim “to get away from his dogs,” and he appeared to have a beer in his hand. According to …
