Mass State Police investigate single-car crash.
An Everett man was killed early this morning in a single-car crash on Route 93 North near the Woburn city line. According to the Massachusetts State Police, 35-year-old Oscar Lopez's car left the roadway and struck a rock ledge near Exit 36 at 1:30 a.m. Monday. The accident caused severe damage to the front of the vehicle, and Lopez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered traumatic injuries, said MSP Spokesman Dave Procopio. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene. The right travel lane and breakdown lane at the crash scene were closed for about two hours during the crash investigation, said state police. Mass State Police still investigating.
An East Boston man was killed Monday night after an accident on Route 128 North in Woburn. According to the Massachusetts State Police, the man's 2002 Nissan Maxima was driving on the ramp to Washington Street (Exit 36) when his car "swerved, left the road and rolled over off of the ramp" Monday night just before 8 p.m. State Troopers are still investigating what caused the man's car to leave the road. Paul Salerno, 51, of East Boston, was ejected from the car during the rollover. After being transported by Woburn Fire Department to Massachusetts General Hospital, Salerno was pronounced dead. A Massachusetts State Police trooper's car also damaged in secondary accident on Stoneham/Woburn line.
A Methuen woman died and her passenger was seriously injured during a crash on Route 93 at the Stoneham/Woburn line early Sunday morning, according to the Massachusetts State Police. On Monday morning, police identified the accident victim as Ashleigh Baudin, 25. Her passenger—a Medford man—has not been identified by police. At about 3:30 a.m., troopers from the Medford Barracks responded to Route 93 southbound in Stoneham, south of Route 128, for a report of a motor vehicle crash, according to a press statement.
