The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline has risen to $3.81 in Woburn over the past month.
Gas prices in Woburn continue their upward march, with prices reaching the highest point ever in February and up more than a quarter in the past month. AAA Southern New England said its survey of prices in Massachusetts on Monday found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.72 per gallon, four cents higher than a week ago and up 31 cents over the past month. On Wednesday, the average price for a gallon of regular in Woburn was $3.81, up signifcantly over a month ago, according to AAA. The national average for self serve unleaded of $3.73 and a year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.60. Gas prices in the area have increased by 20 cents over the past month.
The lower gas price of a month ago is now just a memory as regular gas prices have increased by 20 cents over the past month in the Boston area. The average regular gallon of gas is $3.80 today in the Boston area compared to $3.60 just a month ago. Mid-range gas is now $3.94 compared to $3.76 from a month ago and premium has increased to $4.07 from $3.88, according to AAA. Closer to home, there are at least three stations charging less than the area average -- Best Petroleum on Main Street has regular gas at $3.68, Gibbs at 107 Winn St. is $3.70 and the Kwik Stop on Washington Street is $3.70. NSTAR announced Monday that if a proposal is approved by the state, gas customers could see a 16 percent drop in heating prices by Feb. 1.
NSTAR Gas customers may see some relief in their winter heating costs. According to press release put out by the utility company today, NSTAR customer can expect a mid-winter price cut thanks to a "continued steady decline in natural gas prices." "NSTAR’s current supply price, which is already significantly less than last winter, will drop by 16 percent on February 1 if the company’s proposal is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities," the release states. What this means for customers, NSTAR says, is that on average, the new lower supply price will save NSTAR customers who heat with natural gas about $15 a month compared with current rates and a total of about $30 a month compared to last winter. “Along with being one…

That happened to me too. Once I filled up I had no cash for them. My dad had to come help me because I was in Milford down the street from him. Horrible. So I appreciate when cash only places tell you up front!   more ›
