Honduran National Arrested in Woburn as Part of Homeland Security Roundup
The arrest was part of a three-day operation by U.S. Immigration and Enforcement aimed at deporting foreign nationals with criminal convictions.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested in Woburn a 23-year-old Honduran national as part of an operation called "Threats Against the Community" that led to 39 arrests in the Boston area. The operation took place over three days beginning on Aug. 7, according to an announcement from the agency, which is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. All 39 of the people arrested had criminal convictions, many for violent crimes, the agency said. It is seeking to deport the individuals. The three-day operation was part of the "National Criminal Alien Program, which is responsible for locating, arresting and removing at-large criminal aliens," according to the announcement.
