Here it is July 9 and you've already delved into our Patch 2012 Summer Reading Guide featuring choices by best-selling novelist James Patterson. What? You've already finished it? Good work! Now we have more for you... The National Endowment for the Humanities released its own list of Summer Reading choices last month, breaking its book lists into: Kindergarten through Grade 3, Grades 4 through 6, and Grades 7 through 8. There's also a list for college-bound students. The 2012 NEH list is a refresh of the original list, which was created in 1988. The first list featured classics and favorites published prior to 1960. Summertime, and the reading is easy . . . or challenging, depending on our mood, right? I have just submitted my latest YA manuscript to my agent, so I am gearing up for a reading frenzy, a veritable feast of other people’s words. And I love them all, from picture books to the classics. (Right now I am reading The Mysterious Benedict Society aloud to my daughter (age 7) at the urging of my boys (ages 10 and 12) and I am LOVING it.)
