New Restaurants Coming To Woburn

City Council approves two new eateries; third in proposal stage.

  It's official—Firehouse Subs is opening its third Massachusetts location in Woburn. The City Council approved a special permit for the national fast food chain at its last meeting, agreeing that the eatery could move into an empty storefront in the Petco building on Commerce Way. According to city documents, Firehouse Subs "sells made-to-order sandwiches." Generally, customers order a sandwich and wait approximately four to six minutes to be served. Patrons can take their meal out or eat at tables inside. There is no drive-thru option, said Mark Vaughan, the attorney representing Firehouse Subs. Is a Firehouse Subs Eatery Opening in Woburn?

City Council to open public hearing on restaurant request next week.

  When City Council meets next week, aldermen are expected to discuss a restaurant request by Great Saves Concepts, LLC. According to city documents, Great Saves is an LLC managed by Wells Aitken of 2 Black Horse Terrace in Winchester. Aitken is asking to open a "fast food restaurant" at 103 Commerce Way, which is the Petco building in the Target shopping area. State records show that Great Saves Concepts, LLC was incorporated in May of 2011 and is managed by New England Heroes, LLC, also owned by Aitken. Both corporations cite "the development and operation of restaurants" as the "general character of the business."
