Main Street convenience store robbed on Saturday night.
Police are investigating the Saturday night robbery of a Main Street convenience store in which the suspects left a trail of evidence. At 8:56 p.m., Woburn Police responded to the Six Star Market on Main Street for a burglar alarm. According to police, when officers arrived, they found the front door of the building had been shattered and opened. The store’s owner told police he had closed the building at 8:30 p.m. Police found a large rock had been used to break the glass door, and two plastic dispensers of scratch tickets had been taken. Using video surveillance footage, police found that two male suspects had looked inside the store, then a few minutes later, broke the door and stole the tickets. According to police, a Billerica woman had turned onto School Street from Main when her car’s steering malfunctioned causing the car to cross onto the westbound lane, hit a car, jump the curb and enter a yard. The car damaged bushes, the lawn, a utility pole, a parked car and a School Street home. The driver suffered a minor injury, said police. Two cars were towed from the scene. An unarmed robber attempted to get cash out of a Lowe’s register Tuesday afternoon, but was unsuccessful. According to police, video surveillance footage shows that a man in a red hooded-sweatshirt, gloves and black pants entered the Garden Center at Lowe’s and tried to open the cash register. When he was approached by an employee, police said, the man knocked the woman down to the ground “violently.” As the suspect continued to try to open the register, a customer approached the man, but only exchanged words. “At that point, he realizes he cannot open it and he flees out of the store in an unknown direction,” reported Officer Michael Pacheco.
