New chair will replace Michael Mulrenan for 2013 term.
The Woburn School Committee elected a new chairman at its Monday organizational meeting. Denis Russell will serve as the 2013 School Committee chair. According to a brief statement on Twitter, school officials noted that the election was unanimous. Russell will take over the reins from School Committee member Michael Mulrenan, who served as the last chairman.

Officials add meeting on March 22 for more budget review.
The School Committee reviewed seven sections of the budget, most of which cover contracted amounts, last night, approving four; and also supported, after its first reading, a “green” policy for new school department vehicles. The policy covers only one vehicle: the new driver education car, according to Joseph Elia, school assistant superintendent for finance and operations. That car would meet the requirement, he said. The city would get money for being “green,” according to committee member Dr. John Wells.
