Burlington Among Foes This Week for Tanner Teams

Woburn High School's spring sports squads are in action in upcoming days.

There may be some scattered snow banks still refusing to melt, but spring is officially here. And with that, spring sports season is in full swing with a busy slate of games on the docket this week. Tanners Ready for Final Week of Regular Season Action

The only three teams in action this week for Woburn High School are the boys and girls hockey teams and the boys basketball team.

While this week is a slow one for Woburn High School sports teams, things will really pick up after the week's action is completed. The boys and girls hockey teams join the boys basketball team as the only two groups of Tanners in action during the final week of the regular season. First up is the girls hockey team, which travels to take on Brookline at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lady Tanners are currently ranked as the No. 1 team in the state by numerous media outlets, and will enter the postseason as heavy favorites to win it all. On Wednesday, the boys hockey team hits the ice at home versus Milton. Puck drops at 8 p.m. as the Tanners hope to improve their own playoff positioning. The Woburn girls hockey team will play their final two regular season games in a tournement in Hingham against Arlington Catholic on Tuesday at 2 pm and Thursday at 4 pm against acton boxboro. This end of season tourney consists of the top 8 girls teams from last season and should give Woburn a good test. Masshshockey shows Woburn girls as the number one team in the state! Tanners Begin Final Push Towards Postseason

Two weeks remain in the regular season as several teams have playoff aspirations.

Two weeks remain in the winter sports regular season, and several Woburn High School teams hope to continue their campaign for at least another game by finding playoff success. No Tanner teams are in action on Monday, but the week gets rolling with a pair of Woburn basketball teams hitting the hardwood on Tuesday. The boys basketball team, sitting in first place in the Middlesex League with a playoff berth already sealed up, travels to take on Belmont at 7 p.m. The Lady Tanners, meanwhile, are two wins away from a playoff appearance with two games to go.
