Woburn Man Collected Umployment While Working
Will be arraigned on charges next month.
A Woburn man will be arraigned on charges he collected unemployment while working full time next month in Boston Municipal Court. According to Attorney General Martha Coakley, five people collected over $100,000 in unemployment benefits resulting in the recent fraud charges. “We allege these defendants collected unemployment benefits while continuing to work in violation of the law,” said Coakley. “Unemployment fraud puts a strain on the system and the detection, investigation, and prosecution of these crimes are important to deter fraud and return these funds back to the commonwealth.” A complaint was filed against Thomas Kineavy, 44, of Woburn, on 34 charges of unemployment fraud and two counts of larceny over $250. The unemployment program, as with most government programs, is poorly run and ripe with fraud. It rewards inactivity by handing out money without any accountability or motivation to get off it. At least the guy was working which is more than one can say for the countless that contribute nothing but take everything.   more ›
