PHOTOS: Construction Begins on War Memorial

New memorial will be in place before Veteran's Day.

  Thursday, 1:30 p.m. — Correction: The celebration will be held at the City Hall parking lot/common area.   Thursday, 6 a.m. —Editor's note: This story was edited at 1:30 p.m. The city's new war-time veterans monument is being built downtown this week. The memorial's panels were constructed earlier in Vermont and were brought to Woburn Tuesday. The memorial will stand on the Common area across from City Hall, where the old memorial once stood. The new memorial will have the names of all war-time veterans from all wars. The Flaherty family paid for the memorial, donating it to the city. All of the name plates, that were on the original WWII Memorial on the common, are at the veteran's office and anyone is more than welcome to come down and go through the names and take them. The Veteran's Office is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9 AM to 4:30 PM; Thursday 9 AM to 7 PM and Friday 9 AM to 1 PM.
