Police Arrest Four on Charges of Drug Trafficking and Distribution

The following is based on a release from the Woburn Police Department.

Police arrested two Woburn men, a Malden man and a Boston woman on charges related to drug trafficking and distribution at the Woburn Stop & Shop on Tuesday, May 14, according to Woburn Police. The Southern Middlesex Regional Drug Task Force and Woburn Police Department patrol officers also assisted in the investigation. According to the release the arrests were made following a lengthy investigation into the trafficking and distribution of Oxycodone in the area. The investigation included surveillance and the purchase of illegal drugs by undercover officers. As a result of the investigation police arrested: Joseph Paul DeFilippo, 26, of 6 Kimball Court, Apartment 510, Woburn. DeFilippo was charged with distibuting a Class B Drug - …

Featured Incident May 20- At 11:44 a.m. police stopped a vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, that Malden Police were searching for based on an assault with a dangerous weapon in that town. Police pulled the vehicle over on Inwood Drive and searched the driver and passenger who were father and son. Police found a four-inch knife in the pocket of the son. He said that over the past two years he and his family have noticed items missing from their Eastern Avenue home. He said the house hasn’t been broken into. The man said that two years ago he noticed two Razor scooters missing from his yard. Six months later a motor vehicle jump-start system was stolen and on May 12 of this year a Play Station Portable device went missing. The man said all the items totaled about $500. The victims had just returned home from an extended vacation and discovered their apartment was entered and several pieces of expensive gold jewelry was stolen. Woburn Business Used as a Front in Human Trafficking Enterprise

Attorney General Martha Coakley announced the arrest of two individuals, one a Woburn resident, in connection with a human trafficking enterprise spanning six area communities, including Woburn.

  A Woburn resident and a Medford resident have been arrested in connection with a human trafficking enterprise that spans the borders of several area communities including Wilmington, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced at a Monday press conference at the Wilmington Police Department. Xiu J. Chen, 32, of Medford, and Ronald Keplin, 57, of Woburn were arrested on May 13 and charged with one count each of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude, six counts each of deriving support from prostitution and six counts each of keeping a house of ill fame, according to Coakley.  Authorities allege the operation spanned multiple communities including Wilmington, Bedford, Billerica, Medford, Reading and Woburn. A director spoke with police and said that on May 7 an employee received a phone call from a woman regarding a question about a check in the amount of $1,986 she had received from the company. The woman said she thought it was a mistake. The director said she contacted the woman and said it was a fraudulent check and asked her to send a copy. Major Drug Ring Bust Nets Woburn Man

All 15 suspects were arrested on the morning of May 9.

Fifteen individuals are facing drug distribution charges in connection with a Boston-area narcotics distribution ring, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The suspects were arrested on the morning of Thursday, May 9 and include: According to a press release, a court-authorized  wiretap was used to listen in on the suspects’ activity over a four-month period. Bourque, who owns a Natick-based shipping firm named DEX, used his company to distribute oxycodone (Percocet) pills to redistributors and drug customers. Bourque allegedly acquired the drugs from several sources and used Yancey, Phillip Goolst, Barry Goolst, McGuire and others to distribute the pills.
