Everything looks a lot cooler through Instagram filters. But Woburn Fire doesn't need any help to look cool! But here's a shot of Engine 3 through Instagram. In lieu of our regular column, we invite readers to share their favorite photos of the veterans in their lives.
As we observe Veterans Day today, we thought it would be nice to create a gallery of our veterans. If there is a local veteran you would like to honor today, we invite you to share a photo so the whole city can honor those who serve our nation. Just click the green "Submit Your Photos" button above the photos or at the bottom of this article to add yours, along with a caption. Also, leave shoutouts to veterans you know in the comments below. We've kicked off the gallery with a few photos of our own, including Local Editor Danielle Masterson's favorite veteran—her big brother, Chuck, who served in the Navy during Desert Storm and is still a Reservist today.
First snow of the year!
Although it's November, the first snowfall of the season caught many of us by surprise on Tuesday. The snow started to fall late in the afternoon and caused a bit of a ruckus on the roads in Woburn that night. By Wednesday, a lot of the snow had melted thanks to the rain. Here's a shot of the first snowfall, taken by our friends at the Bailey Group Real Estate firm in Woburn. Thanks, Stephanie! Do you have a picture you'd like to share with us for Photo of the Day? Danielle, as much as I love the snow, I'm glad to see it'll be 60 on Sunday!   more ›
A Trio of Greenes!
Cousins Trey, Steven and Jacob Greene are ready to skate in this photo submitted by Laurie Greene. "The boys are doing the Woburn Youth Hockey Learn to Skate program Saturday mornings and love it!" said Laurie. "A special thank you to the coaches who are helping them and volunteering their time!" Thanks for the great photo, Laurie! Do you have a picture you'd like to share with us for Photo of the Day? Remember, all POTD come from readers, so without you, we have no photos! Now this is a canine-alarm system!
This is Steele. He is 180 pounds. And he is an 8-month-old puppy. Wow! What a gorgeous animal! And he must be quite the canine-alarm system! Thanks to Will McGonagle for sharing this photo of this pretty pup. Do you have a picture you'd like to share with us for Photo of the Day? What a sweet little face!
We have to admit, we are partial to our canine friends. And we love this little guy named Roo. This is the look Roo gives Daddy in the morning when he doesn't want Daddy to go to work! Woburn Patch Associate Editor Chloe is also very good at this look. Thanks to Roo's Daddy, Will McGonagle, for this great photo! Hurricane Sandy's aftermath on Horn Pond.
We all know Hurricane Sandy did quite a bit of damage to Woburn's trees and power lines. Woburn Patch readers Maria and Rich Haynes went to Horn Pond Tuesday to see how our favorite walking spot fared during the storm. As you can see, some trees were felled and one bench is going to be a bit uncomfortable for a little while! Thanks, Maria and Rich!
