Pedestrian Struck In Woburn

Police are investigating the incident on Salem Street.

A pedestrian was struck by a car on Salem Street on Jan. 20, according to Woburn Police. The pedestrian was struck near 178 Salem St. at around 10 a.m., according to police. Police said the victim was not seriously injured. Police are currently on the scene investigating the crash, according to police.  Stay tuned to Woburn Patch for more information.

MBTA, Traffic Affected by Salem Street Work

Re-paving of busy road Wednesday and Thursday.

  Salem Street is undergoing a makeover. But in order to get pretty, it will get a little ugly first. Woburn Police advised motorists Tuesday that traffic, including MBTA buses and stops, will be impacted Wednesday and Thursday. Work crews will continue re-paving Salem Street between Main and Beach streets Wednesday, before moving onto the area between Beach and Wood streets Thursday. Motorists should seek alternate routes during the construction as there will be detours and delays. Work begins at 7 a.m. On Thursday, MBTA bus riders who use Bow and Salem street stops will need to go to corner of Wood and Salem streets to be picked up. I think Center st in Woburn needs all new sidewalks and new pavement the street is is brutal condition patches everywhere and no drains at all causing floods all the time .Also the city should realize we are in the center even tho never get any attention here   more ›

UPDATED: Firefighters Investigate Chimney Fire; Wade Avenue Reopened to Traffic

Police and Fire called to 74 Salem St. shortly after 7 p.m. for a report of a chimney fire.

Update, 7:35 p.m. - All Woburn Fire and Police personnel reported clearing the scene and Wade Avenue was reopened to traffic. Update, 7:30 p.m. - One lane of traffic was opened by Woburn Police on Wade Avenue.  Update, 7:25 p.m. - Woburn Fire requested the Building Inspector be notified of the incident, adding that the "exterior chimney is unsafe."  According to WFD, firefighters shut down the stove that caused the smoke condition. Monday, 7:15 p.m. - Woburn Fire and Police were called to 74 Salem St. shortly after 7:05 p.m. tonight to investigate a chimney fire.
