Woburn Police Remind Motorist to Buckle Up or Face Fines

The Woburn Police Department, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, are cracking down on unbuckled motorist and passengers as part of "Click It or Ticket."

The Woburn Police Department is partnering with other law enforcement agencies to ensure motorists and passengers are wearing their seat belts while on the road in the lead-up to the Memorial Day holiday.  According to a notice from the department, the Woburn Police Department, in partnership with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s (EOPSS) Highway Safety Division (HSD), the State Police and many other local departments will take part in the 2013 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization from May 20 to June 2 and crack down on motorists who are not belted. “As we kick-off  the busy summer driving season it’s important that everyone buckles up every time they go out, both day and night – no excuses,” …

Monday Human Trafficking Arrests 'A Great Day for Victims'

With the announcement that a Medford woman and Woburn man were arrested for running a prostitution ring, police said Monday was a major victory in shutting down the alleged pattern of "modern day slavery."

Law enforcement officials said Monday that a pair of human trafficking arrests were not only a major victory for police, but also the women at the center of the ring who are considered the victims of “modern day slavery.” During a Monday press conference at the Wilmington Police Department, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced that Xiu J. Woburn Business Used as a Front in Human Trafficking Enterprise

Attorney General Martha Coakley announced the arrest of two individuals, one a Woburn resident, in connection with a human trafficking enterprise spanning six area communities, including Woburn.

  A Woburn resident and a Medford resident have been arrested in connection with a human trafficking enterprise that spans the borders of several area communities including Wilmington, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced at a Monday press conference at the Wilmington Police Department. Committed to staying informed about changes to laws and updates in current criminal procedures, seven police officers from Woburn recently participated in a Law Enforcement Liability In-service Training.

Woburn Police to Train at Schools Today

Members of the Woburn Police Department will be conducting emergency response training in the city's public schools today.

Members of the Woburn Police Department will be taking advantage of the school department's winter break to get in some emergency response training today. According to an article the Daily Times Chronicle, Chief Robert Ferulla said members of the department will be conducting emergency response training at the Goodyear Elementary School and the Kennedy Middle School, starting at 7:30 a.m. this morning. The training is expected to end around 4 p.m. According to the story some of the training activity may be conducted outside of the school buildings and in parts of the neighborhood. VIDEO: Three Officers Sworn into Woburn Police Department

Brendan Maher, Joseph Wells and John P. Connolly pledged to protect and serve the city last night.

The city officially welcomed three new police officers to the ranks last night at the City Council meeting. In order of seniority, Brendan Maher, Joseph Wells and John P. Connolly were sworn into the Woburn Police Department by City Clerk William Campbell.  All three men have strong public safety ties. Maher's brother is a detective on the Waltham Police Department. Wells' father was a former Woburn PD reserve officer and a 30-year veteran of the Boston Police Department. Connolly is the son of the late Woburn Police Sgt.
