Woburn Police Remind Motorist to Buckle Up or Face Fines

The Woburn Police Department, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, are cracking down on unbuckled motorist and passengers as part of "Click It or Ticket."

The Woburn Police Department is partnering with other law enforcement agencies to ensure motorists and passengers are wearing their seat belts while on the road in the lead-up to the Memorial Day holiday.  According to a notice from the department, the Woburn Police Department, in partnership with the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s (EOPSS) Highway Safety Division (HSD), the State Police and many other local departments will take part in the 2013 national Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement mobilization from May 20 to June 2 and crack down on motorists who are not belted. “As we kick-off  the busy summer driving season it’s important that everyone buckles up every time they go out, both day and night – no excuses,” …

Tanners Baseball and Softball Split With Reading

In Friday action the softball team beat Reading while the baseball team was beaten by the Rockets on the diamond.

The results were mixed for the Woburn High School baseball and softball teams, as the Tanners split a pair of games on Friday in Reading. It was the softball team that came out on top of the Lady Rockets, earning a 4-1 victory. Though the baseball team hung close into the middle innings, Reading eventually pulled away and cruised to an 8-0 win.

One Fund Boston Claim Forms Available Until June 15

Payments to victims will be made starting June 30.

Victims of the Boston Marathon bombings can file claims starting today through June 15, to possibly receive One Fund Boston assistance. Funds will start being distributed by June 30. One Fund Boston administrator Kenneth Feinberg released the final distribution protocol on Wednesday, which outlines how initial funds raised will be handed out, according to a City of Boston press statement.  The protocol for claims and claim forms are available at One Fund Boston's website. Claim forms are also being mailed to potential claimants who registered through One Fund's website.  “The outpouring of support for The One Fund has been unprecedented in my experience,” said Feinberg via statement. “We remain committed to channeling that generosity to …

  Massachusetts people don’t curse much on the phone. Are you #*#@* kidding me?! Analysis by the Marchex Institute found that Massachusetts callers are the second least likely to curse on phone calls – only Washington cursed less.  Ohio topped the list for most foul-mouthed callers. Marchex examined more than 600,000 calls over a year that were placed by consumers to businesses in 30 different industries. Though Massachusetts people don’t curse much, they also don’t say “please” and “thank you” enough either. Massachusetts was ranked the second least courteous state in the report.
