I agree with Maureen as well Jodi. In this case, given ABC News' well-known and established reputation as a trustworthy news outlet, it was the first time we've mentioned anyone's name on Stoneham Patch in relation to the Marathon bombings. Again, we don't have any first-hand accounts ourselves, which is why up until this article we refrained from reporting anyone's name.

Given the sensitive nature of all of this, it's been difficult to get first-hand confirmation of anything. We don't have anyone reaching out to us with information, merely seeing information floating around on Facebook. You'll note none of the other stories on Stoneham Patch have mentioned names, because it's been relying on second-hand sources. In this case, ABC News is a well-known and trusted news source, and spoke directly to Mrs. Norden with a first-hand account, which is why we felt we could rely on it. I understand why you're upset, and hope you can understand why we relied on ABC in this instance.
And by reaching out to me, I didn't mean so much a comment on the site, which we won't necessarily see right away, but contacting us directly, which is always the quickest way to bring our attention to a problem.
Thanks again for alerting us to this. We've changed the article to reflect the updated ABC News article.

I'll add that the ABC report has since removed Marc's name—we'll do the same here to reflect their update.

Maureen, this initial report was based on what ABC reported after speaking with Mrs. Norden. That report, linked to above, stated that Marc "Lost both legs, his right leg gone from the hip; the left from the knee."
