It has been claimed that in 1835 that it cracked after it had been rung for Washington's birthday, however it has been disputed that while the bell was being displayed in various locations that people took pieces of it as souvenirs. There were reports that it always had a crack that had been filled in, but it was in 1835 that while the bell was ringing that it cracked to the point it is today.

Something kind AMERICAN store? Is that English? Excuse me....was that "American"? :-) Your somewhat confusing statement of "something kind AMERICAN" leads me to believe that you are of the opinion that there are too many non-American restaurants? Which leads me to my next question....What is an "American" restaurant/store? First thoughts are McDonald's and KFC....both quite "American". What would an "American" store be? Wouldn't our Target on the other side of the city be considered an "American" store? I'm pretty sure the mall has a few more of these difficult to find "American" stores and restaurants. If you were trying to indicate that perhaps Woburn Center has too many say....Brazilian places, I would first ask, is that such a bad thing? Who doesn't like a good BBQ? And call me crazy, but is Brazil not part of South America? So wouldn't it then be considered "American"? South American technically, but American. I suppose we could through in a Mexican restaurant as I guess Mexico is part of this place we call North America. I'm trying to think of what "American" food would be considered. Are you looking for a place to get some nice meat loaf or perhaps a roast turkey dinner? That sounds pretty American. I suppose the old burgers, hot dogs and fries could be considered "American" but do we really need another Bill & Bob's? (there are some that would vote yes) As long as whatever goes in the old Bell is an individual instead of a chain, I'm happy.

So....you go to the police to report a theft but then tell the police that you don't want them to contact the possible woman thief regarding the incident?! Then why go to the police in the first place? What did this guy expect out of reporting the incident without wanting police involvement? I supportive pat on the back for sleeping with a klepto? What should the police do if they actually do find out it was this woman? If this man wants the police to find out if she took the stuff and then do nothing....bahh!! This man confuses me.

Seems scams are on the rise. I just received a phone call from a number "51037" and when I answered a person with an indian accent begins to tell me that he works for some technical support company and is having difficulties logging into my computer to "repair" it. Being a bit of a computer geek and also being aware that I do not have any contract with any sort of IT repair service, as ask the man how he got my phone number. He answered, I have your phone number but need your username and password to log into your computer to repair it. I ask, how did your get my phone number as it is not connected in anyway with my computer or IP address? As soon as I asked the man hung up the phone. Totally a person running a scam using names & phone numbers obtained....from somewhere...maybe the phone company? Either way, if something sounds fishy, it probably is.

  • On the article Should DUI Alcohol Limit Be Lowered To 0.05 Percent?

How about really, REALLY hard penalties for people caught driving under the influence and proper enforcement of those penalties? Lowering the standard from 0.08 to 0.05 is not going to stop or prevent any drunk driving accidents. The man from Billerica who was arrested over the weekend on his 12th DUI was FAR over either limit and already had his license revoked. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN IN JAIL WHERE HE WOULD HAVE NO ACCESS TO A VEHICLE!

So I guess if you're property number is "0" the city should just assume you aren't going to pay taxes.

Crappy sentencing!!! So in 25-30 years when these losers are 55-60 years old we'll all just have to "hope" that our wonderful prisons have "rehabilitated" them so they won't do it again? RIDICULOUSNESS Maybe if they were trafficking drugs they would've received more time. I'm glad the judge "thanked" the police for their good work because at this point they'll need the supportive reinforcement to deal with re-arresting repeat offenders.

I'm confused as to why the police allowed some of the money that they confiscated as "evidence" was then given to the suspect to post bail. Is this typical? So, they arrest a suspected drug dealer who also has money that is taken as "evidence", do they also give them some of that cash to post bail?

Check your basements/sump pumps neighbors....the thaw seems to be starting. Rose Farm neighborhood already seems to have houses pumping water out of basements with sump pumps.
