POLICE LOG: 'House Party' Ends with Stolen iPhone

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Feb. 18 – At 10:54 p.m., police responded to a Grant Street home for a report of stolen items. According to police, two parents had gone out with the understanding that their teenage daughter would have “a couple of friends over.” But when the parents came home, it was a “full-blown house party with upwards of 30 partygoers,” said officers. The teens fled the home, and the parents realized that some cash, a watch, an iPhone and a checkbook were taken during the party.

Feb. 16 –

At 12:09 p.m., police responded to a Totman Drive residence. According to police, a woman wanted a police presence when she returned home. Two officers kept the peace while the woman was in the house, said police.  

Feb. 17 –

At 9:44 a.m., a New Boston Street business reported the theft of a snow plow.

At 10:17 a.m., a Sixth Road business reported receiving harassing phone calls. Police spoke to the woman making the phone calls and advised her to cease.

At 5:42 p.m., police were dispatched to a three-car accident on Bedford Road involving an 18-year-old Winchester woman driving on a learner’s permit. According to police, the 18-year-old told officers she was “trying to light a cigarette” when she drove over the double-yellow line and struck two cars. The woman was cited for failure to stay to the right of the center line, said police.

At 5:42 p.m., a driver reported leaving her car in gear when she went to shop at the Lady Grace store on Commerce Way. The car rolled out of its parking spot and struck another in the lot, said police. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

At 7:02 p.m., a driver was cited for failure to use care in braking after a two-car accident on Washington Street. According to police, the driver rear-ended another that was taking a turn onto Dragon Court.

At 7:44 p.m., two employees of DSW Shoes in the Woburn Mall reported their lockers entered and items stolen. According to police, the women reported someone entered the store’s break room and stole a cell phone and cash. The report was forwarded to Woburn Police detectives for further investigation.

At 8:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at a Conn Street business. One man was taken to Winchester Hospital for evaluation, said police.

At 9:43 p.m., police were called to a fight outside an Everett Street home. According to police, a man told officers he argued with his girlfriend and went outside to “cool off.” He asked the woman for his coat, and the couple began arguing again, said police. Officers restored peace for the night.

At 11:24 p.m., an Edwards Road resident reported returning home and finding his door open. Officers responded and ordered the man to stay in his car, while they checked for anyone inside the home, said police. Finding no one, the resident returned to the home and reported his flat-screen TV stolen, as well as cash and about 20 pairs of cufflinks.  

Feb. 18 –

At 1:35 a.m., police observed suspicious activity behind the Red Roof Inn during routine patrol. According to police, two men ran from an officer who attempted to speak to them. Police caught up to the men, who said they did not know why they ran.

At 10:04 a.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident involving a U.S. Postal truck on Winn Street. According to police, a driver admitted dialing her phone when she collided with the parked postal truck. She was summonsed to Woburn District Court for impeded operation and operating after a license suspension, reported police.   

At 1:28 p.m., police responded to a verbal argument on Pleasant Street. One woman said she wanted to know where a family member was buried, said police. When that information was relayed to her, the woman calmed down, said police.

At 3:35 p.m., a West Cummings Park business reported the theft of an iPad earlier in the day. Police contacted a suspect in the crime and asked him to return the device. The device was brought to the police station and returned to the owner.

At 7:29 p.m., police responded to a report of an unwanted party at an Orange Street apartment. Police escorted the man off the property.

Feb. 19 –

At 10:31 a.m., a Winchester woman reported her vest was taken from a public coat rack area at the YMCA on Lexington Street. According to police, the vest, a cell phone and set of keys were taken.

At 11:45 a.m., a Blossom Street resident reported two pieces of jewelry missing from her home. According to police, the resident told police she had two women in her home cleaning and they may be suspects.

At 7:05 p.m., police responded to a well-being check at the Extended Stay Hotel on Main Street. One man was taken to Winchester Hospital.

At 7:16 p.m., a Salem Street woman reported her debit card number was used fraudulently.  

Feb. 20 –

At 12:57 a.m., a Mill Street woman reported receiving threats.

At 11:39 a.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident at the Route 38 rotary on Main Street.

At 12:26 p.m., a Totman Road resident reported receiving threats.

At 2:12 p.m., two Arlington men reported a GPS unit stolen from their car at the McDonald’s at Four Corners Feb. 19.

At 4:09 p.m., police were dispatched to Erie Street for a report of a cab fare dispute. According to police, an agreement was made to pay the $33 fare on Feb. 21.

At 6:20 p.m., an officer was called to Bedford Road for a report of a two-car accident. According to police, a driver crossed the double-yellow line and struck another car. The driver told police she didn’t know how she crossed the line, said the reporting officer.

At 7:09 p.m., a Wood Street resident gave police a 9mm Luger pistol for safekeeping while ownership of the firearm was being changed.  

At 9:04 p.m., a Westgate Drive resident reported her laptop and charger stolen from her apartment. Police reported several other electronics were left in the apartment.
